Why is a raven like a writing desk?

Last night I finally saw "Alice in Wonderland" by Tim Burton with my crazy friends! As always I loved it like I loved every film directed by that damned genius, especially the colours (in italian we say "la fotografia") and the sceneries behind the strange, mad characters that populate the Wonderland, or better Underland (in the dubbing: Sottomondo).

Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter was fantastic, even though he can't leave what I call "the redundant Jack-Sparrow-walk", but his big, sparkling, green eyes full of melancholy are unique, I must admit.

And of course Helena Bonham Carter would not disappoint us, her performance as the Red Queen was gorgeus; the age-old matter of the oldest sister and the younger made me think about me and my sister. Sometimes we youngest daughters are traited better than them, with no particular reason. A riddle peeped out: why in a Reign full of Hearts there's no love?

Finally, Alice: I've got to say that the actress who played the main character (Mia Wasikowska), the young girl getting into troubles with decisions and all that stuff, did not convince me. But it's only an opinion.

Anyway, it was a great film to see. So funny the tongue-twisters that were present in the hole screenplay (and I'm sure they also were in the original book by Lewis Carroll, who, I remind you, was a mathematician) and the characters of the Cheshire Cat (we say Stregatto) and the White Queen, who seemed to be a little insane, or as Anne Hathaway herself defined her "a punk-rock vegan pacifist".

What do you think about this film? Let me know your opinions and points of view, so that I will be able to see any other facets I was deaf about. And remember: "You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are."

  1. oh! : )) yes, I agree with you. I really loved the film although it was not really 'alice'. but the colours and characters were just amazing. and I don't really have an opinion about alice. she was nothing special, I can't hate her or love her.
